Fried Cinnamon Apple Rings Recipe

  • Author: David

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 large apples: Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are ideal for their firmness and tartness.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk: You can use regular milk or almond milk for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 egg: Alternatively, use a flaxseed egg for a vegan version.
  • Oil for frying: Vegetable oil or any neutral oil works best.
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare Apples: Core and slice the apples into rings about 1/4 inch thick. This thickness ensures they cook evenly and maintain a good texture.
  2. Make Batter:

    • In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and sugar.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined.
    • Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until you achieve a smooth batter.

  3. Heat Oil: Pour oil into a deep pan to a depth that allows the apple rings to float. Heat over medium heat until the oil reaches about 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  4. Fry Rings:

    • Dip each apple ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
    • Carefully place the battered rings into the hot oil, frying until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.

  5. Drain & Dust:

    • Remove the rings from the oil and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
    • Dust with powdered sugar while still warm for an extra sweet touch.
